
Vision Research Phantom announced the new Mito eX-series point-and-shoot digital high-speed cameras. Three models are introduced, the Miro ex1, ex2 and Miro Miro EX4. Each of them is equipped with a custom-designed CMOS sensor.
The Miro Miro EX1 and EX2 gets a 640 × 480 while the sensor EX4 Miro has a 800 × 600 sensor. They offer a maximum, full-resolution frame rates of 500 frames-per-second (fps) to over 1.200 fps. The speed can reach 100.000 fps if you reduce the resolution. The fnumber offered by the Miro eX camera can be as fast as two micro seconds (1 / 500, 000 second) and the custom-designed CMOS provides light sensitivity of ISO 4800 for monochrome and ISO 1200 for color.
The EX2 and EX4 therefore include a built-in triggering system allows users to program the Phantom Miro eX to automatically begin recording as soon as motion is detected within a specific point in the frame. All three handheld high-speed cameras have a 3.5-inch touchscreen display and up to 4GB of internal memory (1GB only on Miro EX1), as well as a Compact Flash card slot. These cameras are priced at less than 10K U.S dolars.
